Here is some behind the scenes photos of what is left of the vonroll vr101 at the bronx zoo.I picked up a vr101 welded box grip as well as a hangar arm.The ride sits as the people in Columbia are stalling.As for now,it sits in pieces.I now own a piece of history,A vr101 grip and hangar arm.All i need to to is to get a gondola.(thats next!).Hope everyone all over Europe enjoys these photos of this great vr101....... As far as I know, they decided to close down the VR101 because of security reasons. I heard that there was a little accident last summer and several people were blocked in the VR101 for quite a long time.

the zoo is hurting very badly for money.there funding for the year got cut to 3 million.previously it was at 9 milloin.all funded from the state of new york.the zoo curators didnt want to pay for all new sheave liners and a few routine maintance items.cost 200,000 dollars.the budget didnt include the vr 101.very sad.the zoo itself is looking pretty bad.my brother went there and picked up the vr 101 grip and hanger arm.the zoo cost very little to go in.the skyride never made any profit due to the zoo charging only 2.00$ to go on.very sad..

I didn't have the impression that the enterance fee ist very low. In fact 15$ were high if you consider in what a bad shape the whole zoo is...

here is a good instance,the san diego zoo has a 1969 vonroll vr101.the price for admission is 36 bucks.the vonroll is 4.00 bucks each way.there vr 101 thrives and pays for itself.over 3 million people a year ride there vr 101.allways running max cars of 42.has 8 full time mechanics,and they take great care of there ride.and the zoo,well its world class!very clean!,allways painting and doing maintance around the entire zoo.the bronx zoo isnt a well managed zoo to say the least.oh ya,one of the last vonroll vr 101 certified mechanics still reside at the san diego zoo.

hopefuly.im trying to get a actuall gondola from the 1st vonroll vr101 in the usa.the disneyland skyway.but,i would be satisfied with a green cwa gondola from the bronx zoo.

Bronx Zoo Skyfari has a new home!!Parque Nacional del Cafe.Confirmed by Red Bloomer of Doppelmayr USA.Ride was sold for 30,000$ us.The Parque Nacional del Cafe Vonroll Type 101 is A 1959 model.It came from the Worlds fair in 1982.This particular VR101 was used at Fairs all over the world.All parts from the Bronx Zoo Vonroll will be used.The Bronx zoo had 48 gondolas.

I just found this pictures and this VR101 looks pretty strange to my mind. The towers seem to be manufactured by PHB and not by Von Roll?

From my understanding,The Bronx Zoo Vonroll will be mainly used as parts.All of the tower batteries will be reused and on the old ride ,some of the old 1959 vonroll parts will be removed.increasing capacity.
