This video was taken dozen or so hours before the fall of the Ghost Glacier from the north face of Mt. Edith Cavell (3:30 pm on August 9 2012)

This was the third and largest of three ice falls off of the Ghost Glacier on Mount Edith Cavell near Jasper that happened within about a 20 to 30 minute period on the afternoon of August 9, 2012. This video was taken from Cavell Meadows. The ice fell something like 2000 feet onto the Cavell Glacier. Quite loud. Much of the falling ice disappeared into the moat at the top of the Cavell Glacier.

Bilder nach dem nächtlichen Gletscherabsturz:Sometime that night, almost all of the Ghost glacier fell off of the face of Edith Cavell into Cavell Lake below causing a tidal wave that swept down the the outlet stream, took out the lower part of the trailhead parking lot and flooded the road. It was extremely lucky that the glacier came down during the night. Half of the loop trail to Cavell Lake was in the path of the flood and many people would likely have been killed had it come down during the day.
