Hello everybody!

It's a long time ago since my first cable way was introduced here. At this forum I was away but I have not been idle..

My second project is part 2 of my cableway, an reversable ropeway.

The new cableway begins by the mountain station of part one and goes to the garage (ca 5m long). I will use steel-wire.

looks nice, but I think there will be one problem.

In my eyes, the blue cable rolls there are too small. If the full rope tension force has to go round that small wheel, you will loose much power due to the bearing friction because of the small bending radius. I would recommend you to use larger wheels (e.g. diameter 40 mm or 60 mm). Even 30 mm wheels would be much better. As it seems, you'd need to change the rest of your construction, but I think this would be much better for the rope and for the power transmission between the driving wheel and the rope behind this cable roll which has to pull the cabin(s).

Anne, very, nice to hear from you again...
I believe that collegue sunset absolutely matches the point with his arguments; especially if you use a steel rope i hardly see a chance to pull the rope over the little pulleys and surely i would recommend much bigger pulleys too. Based at your rope angle i would prefer a minimum diameter of 60 mm when using a 2 mm steel rope otherwise the resistance would get so high that you probably loose the bullwheel rope traction.

Thank you for thinking about the wheels Markus and sunset! In hindsight I think it too.. I have bought today 2 big 50mm wheels (60mm was not available here in the DIY shop).

I have made 2 big holes in the rear of the mountain station for the rope, and have placed the new wheels Monday I make 2 new wheels in the beginning station.

Then I will make the interior en the electricity in the stations (the buttons for reverse the cableway, lights, cables to the Arduino)

The project reversable ropeway has been paralysed for a few months. But.. the 8EUB cableway is updated and renovated for the winter!









These are photo's from yesterday, the 8EUB was in operation the whole day. Today the 8EUB has stopped working. The Modelcraft motor from Petz is after a few years broken down So I have exactly the same engine ordered by Conrad. I hope the 8EUB is running again over a few days! Anyone experience with an broken down Modelcraft RB-35 engine? (too hot, too much power or something?

Hello Anne; nice to hear from you again and to see that the ropeway is still in use.

Maybe i did a mistake at the delivered motors some years ago cause i tried to put a drop of adhesive oil at the backside motor bearing for longer life but i had to learn that in some cases the oil creeps to the collector and then the motor died based at overheating the collector based at the slightly oiled carbon brushes...
Usually the Modelcraft Motors are very rugged and besides the two my extra oil had killed until now i had one further failure report cause against my recommandation one customer did not cover the motor and it had been stopped by inside rust after some years.

That is just one of those things that can happen to anyone . fortunately, the motor is not expensive and I hope Conrad delivers the motor by end of this week. To be certain,I also ordered a 'cooling element with fan' for the motor. if everything goes well, the cooling element is exactly the same diameter as the motor. My experience is that the motor has a high temperature when it is running.

Usually the RB - motors show only very low temperatures also when running some days without interruptions. So i´m rather sure that oil on the carbon brushes had caused the failure the partial oil caused shortcut let the temperature raise up.
So i don´t think that the new motor will need a cooling; all motors (and i had upgraded ~ 40 of the JC - automatic ATW´s running in shops as demonstration cableways in nonstop mode during the opening time) showed except one no thermal problems or failures too.

Nice to see that your ropeway is running again without problems. And like i wrote earlier usually there´s absolutely no chance to warm up cold hands at a RB35 motor...

This evening I would like to place some pictures of the LED lights The glue from the LED strips is very bad, so I have to find an another solution to fix it.

I had to try out some of the LED - strips too, the best of them have a glue strip from "3M". But its very important too to have a clean, dry surface free from oil/grease before you apply the strip
