Im norwegischen Wintersportort Hafjell nimmt am 1. Dezember eine neue Gondelbahn den Betrieb auf - die erste ihrer Art in ganz Skandinavien. Die Bahn ist 2,5 Kilometer lang und kann in ihren 64 geschlossenen Kabinen bis zu 1800 Fahrgäste pro Stunde auf den Berg bringen. Hafjell liegt 15 Kilometer nördlich von Lillehammer.

It is time to start planning another winter season – and this will be one to look forward to indeed. As you may recall from the news last spring – a new gondola will be in operation for the upcoming season.
Several crews have been working aggressively on the project during the summer months to get everything ready for the scheduled opening date – Dec. 1. Riding the gondola will add so much comfort to a Hafjell ski day. The cabins will protect you from the cold winds and the view over the valley is spectacular. It takes 7 swift minutes from the valley to the top where the next novelty, the new restaurant, awaits ! The Pavillion is a glass construction that will be located right on the edge of the mountain top, where the view and the landscape will match the food. Hot soups and delicious fresh baked cakes will be among your choices, and we expect this to become a popular lunch spot.
The Gondola will lift you to a new area of the mountain – and the trail system will be extended further north. Svegardsløypa is a new slope starting from the top of the gondola where the intermediate skiers can cruise to their hearts` delight. The slope ends up at the mid station of the gondola, where you can either be lifted back up to the mountains or pick up the easy route and ski all the way down to the base.
