An International guest with some questions...

Beitrag von DieDummeSchwede »

Hi! My name is Gustav and I'm from Sweden. I am a skier and a snowboarder.

I have been watching this site for a long time and it's really amusing to watch everyone travel to all the resorts in the alps.
However, here in sweden, I'm starting to get real tired about our own skiresorts who are so slow at building new slopes and CLF/CLD:s (Gondol seems quite impossible).
The most irritating part is that, the biggest skiresort company in Scandinavia is Skistar AB and is currently controlling Sälen, Åre, Vemdalen, Hemsedal and Trysil.
They make money buy selling overpriced skipasses (Åre one week is as expensive as Dolomiti Superski one week...), having monopoly on Ski rental and are using there website
as the number one booking site for hotelrooms/apartments in the resorts.

My biggest irritation is pointed at Åre, wich maybe some of you know as the location for the Alpine Skiweltmeisterschaft in 2007. If we only look at the newbuildings in the area
it's quite depressing: 1998 - Duveds Linbana (6-cld/b) was built, 2002 - VM6:an (6-cld) and Hummelliften (4-clf) was built and in 2006 the VM8:an (8 seater Telemix) was built.
Today in 2012, there has been no major new lifts or slopes that have been created, and Skistar are just pumping in money from people who don't want to go the long way down
to the alps, but at the same time are irritated at Skistar for having such a low capacity on Scandinavias biggest ski resort. Even if you have to "accept" the fact that there aren't as
much guests as in Ischgl, Mayrhofen, and Skiwelt. It's still quite "competitive when it comes to "The whole package" (ski resort, apré-ski, restaurants, off-piste and slopes).
So, my questions are:

1. How are new 4/6/8-CLD:s and 8-MGD:s financed in the alps? Is it a local company/village or the whole lift company or else?

2. How many people visits middle-size skiresorts each season (Damüls, Schmittenhöhe, Bad Gastein, Nassfeld, Obertauern etc.)?

3. What does Germans or Austrians think of the swedish Ski resorts?

4. What's the normal price for a 1000 meter long 4-CLD versus a 2000 meter long 4-CLD, and how much does it cost to make the same lift a 6-chair or 8-chair?

5. What's the typical opening dates for a resort in the alps?

/Gustav and sry for my bad english
