Appennini: Abetone in Tuscany.

My first topic about Appennini mountains. ( sorry, just in english).

Appennini are mountains in Italy that goes from Liguria to Sicily. The highest peak are situated in Abruzzo where too many mountains reach 2500 meter on sea level. When sky is clear you can see the sea from appennini's peak.
Appenini are very snowy especially in the center of Italy where in good years you can find 3 or 4 meter of snow. Unluckily sea closeness expose Appennini to hot winds from south. In spite of that you can ski in skiresorts since December to April. My 2007/08 season begun on 18th of November in a ski resort near Siena.
Now I load some photos of Abetone resort in Tuscany near Pistoia: 50 km of slopes (1950-1300 meter on sea level)

Quality of Alpen and dolomiten ski resorts are too far for Appennini.Lifts are not very good but you can really enjoy yourself...especially for freeriders.
We are lucky for skiing from Brenner pass to Sicily... but I love Österreich and specially Österreich weather. For us is very difficult see snow in our cities...or hills.
On next days I show you those we call " dolomites of south Italy". The freerider paradise of Roman people.

appenini are ..when conditions are good...a dream for freeriders..i was in febbio for to times..in the tosco-emiliano appennini..a resort with to chairlifts..one of them is a used one..from dolomiti ..

i enjoyed there one of the most beautiful freeridedays of my life..
