i intend to visit Kaunertal for opening..
but...how much time of driving is from Feichten village to the talstation?
i think is around 30 km but with many-many turns and u-turns...

is better to go for Soelden?

Normaly in october the "talstation" of "ochsenalmbahn" is closed, so you have to drive to "gletscher restaurant" on 2750m.
From Feichten that are about 28km. The fast one needs about half an hour and the normal driver 45min.

If you want more runs and more lifts, Soelden has much more to offer than Kaunertal in October.

However, you have also to drive up to 2.600m by car (or bus) every day.

What about taking a room in Imst and check all three - Soelden, Pitztal and Kaunertal?

Thats a good thinking....i will checked also for this...

However i will come with rented car, and i dont think they will have snow-tyres...

I think it is better to go to Stubai....just like Oct. 2007

Normally you don't need snow tyres in October to drive up to Soelden or Kaunertal Glacier.

Yes, but those are glacier roads...
you never know. If it was my car ok..but with rented car....
October 2007, i was at Stubai and at 19-20 Oct, it was snowing into the villages in the valley...

Do you think i will need winter tyres?
i will rent a car from airport, so i dont know if i need or no....

or perhaps only snow-chains are enough....

I think, that those cars are already equipped with winter tires at this time of the year.
