Sweden: Ski Lift Accident

In a tragic accident two chairlifts collided on a ski piste in northern Sweden killing a 17 year old girl and injuring three others.

The skiers were on a chairlift in the Abisko National Park in Lapland when the preceding chair came loose and slid back into their chair. A collision not dissimilar to a head on car crash according to the local police spokesman Per Karlsson.

The young girl killed in the accident, as well as three other youths involved, were part of an organised vacation by Young Eagles. They were also taken to hospital and their condition has not yet been released.

Officials said the lift had been inspected in March.

Ein Lift. Der eine Sessel hat sich gelöst und ist auf den nachfolgenden drauf gerutscht. Steht als Meldung der Agentur AP in fast allen US-Onlinediensten, wie eine Befragung von Google ergab. Deshalb gibts auch nirgends nähere Infos, zumindest nicht in englischer Sprache. Alle haben den Text 1:1 übernommen.

Vielleicht weiss der Kollege megapolaren mehr, sofern er hier noch mitliest?

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - A ski lift malfunctioned and two lift chairs collided, killing a 17-year-old girl and injuring three other people in northern Sweden on Tuesday.



The riders were part of a youth group vacationing in Abisko National Park in Lapland, one of Sweden's northernmost regions, police said.

They were taking the lift to look at the surrounding countryside from the top of a mountain, when one of the chairs came loose and slid backward down the cable, striking another chair.

"It's like a head-on car crash," local police spokesman Per Karlsson said.

A Norwegian teenage girl, who was in the chair that slid backward, was killed in the accident, he said. Three other people, one of whom was in the chair that was struck, were taken to a hospital; their conditions were not immediately released.

Both chairs were dangling from the cable after the accident. Officials said the lift was last inspected in March.

The ages and nationalities of the injured riders weren't known, but Karlsson said they were all members of Young Eagles, an international organization for children and teenagers. About 30 other members of the group, from Sweden, Norway and Poland, were also on the lift when the accident happened, but weren't injured, police said.

Abisko National Park is about 150 miles of north of the Arctic Circle.

Hab leider gerade kein Wörterbuch da. Aber "dangling" bedeutet doch, das nach dem Zusammenstoß beide Sessel sich vom Seil gelöst haben? Den Fall hat das Mädchen dann wohl nicht überlebt.

Hallo!

Habe dieses Forum im Sommer nicht so oft besucht, und deswegen diese Bericht verpasst...

Aber, von dem Unglück weiß ich leider nicht so viel. Es war die Sesselbahn in Abisko und ein Sessel hat sich von dem Seil gelöst und heruntergerutscht bis in der nächste Sessel. Eine Person wurde dann getötet. Warum der Sessel sich von dem Seil gelöst hat weiß ich nicht, aber der Lift ist ja etwas alt...
