Pre-Christmas Nassfeld was a good choice. Few skiers, all shades of sun and clouds, excellent gastronomy..
The Nassfeld ski resort is accessible from the valley
by the Millenium Express cable car.
There's an empty car park at the bottom right,
the weather is good too, what more could you ask for?

The descent to the valley is closed, but prepared with snow cannons

All slopes can be skied from here. Tressdorferhoehe.

Let´s go to the sun

The best place to start skiing was the Laerchenboden slope
near the Madritschen lift. Undulating, playful and not too steep.

More sporty, steeper and generally more challenging is the slope
by the Troeglbahn lift of the same name. It's on the same side
of the hill as the Laerchenboden slope

Both the Troeglbahn and Laerchenbodenbahn valley stations are located on Passo Pramolo.
You can get here by car, there is a border between Austria and Italy

.Continue on to the Gartnerkofelbahn, there are many great skiing moments
to be had on this sunny slope of the Watschigeralm

From the mountain pass below Garnitzen you can see the Julian Alps in Slovenia and Italy.
The local slopes have a steeper beginning and a slower end,
some people may get bored after a while

Then it's time to sample the locally renowned goulash soup
at the Garnitzenalm hut. In our opinion, this is the best hut
in Nassfeld, definitely more reasonably priced than the restaurants
on the central Tressdorfer ridge

The view from Garnitzen back to Tressdorferhoehe, where we came from,
with the Trogkofel mountain standing out in the background, where we
will soon find ourselves

Now let's ski to the shadier, western part of the resort,
from Tressdorferhoehe on the brisk red Kammabfahrt and Scheibelbodenabfahrt
slopes served by the Moessernbah

The last cable car in this part of the area that was in operation
was the Rudnigsattel with the adjacent ski slope. A beautiful steep hang
at the top, it was possible to go around it on the blue slope

The westernmost Trogkofelbahn and Zweikofelbahn cable cars were out of service,
so at least a look in their direction... on the enlarged picture you can see
the highest mountain of Austria Grossglockne

Rudnigsattel in slightly worse weather.

The only thing left to do is to descend to the second intermediate station
of the Millennium Express, from where you have to take the cable car down to the valley.
The ski route is closed for the time being. But before that we have to enjoy the fast
Sonnleitn slope, it will be a nice end to our skiing.

Nice to see you again here at alpinforum in the winter 2023/24. And thank you for the detailed documentation, the Nasseld hasn't been written about very much during last winter. It's also a resort on my personal to-do-list since decades.

Thank you very much for the recent pics from Nassfeld. It is a typical vacation ski resort. Besides the holidays, it is rather empty. During holidays, half of the Carinthian skiers go there...

i suppose because Miki who usually posted many reports from this area (and all other in Ost Tirol and Carinthia), either is not so active or do not visit these places any more...
